Keeping children and young people safe is one of the most important priorities we have as a community – and nothing is different at MMJFC.

Be safe, feel safe, play safe

As a large community junior football club, we are committed to creating and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all children and young people to participate in Australian Football.

In fact, we’re committed to promoting and protecting the wellbeing of everyone who participates at Mt Martha JFC at any level.

Our culture is built on the 'Be Safe, Feel Safe, Play Safe' mindset championed by the AFL. The accompanying policies and processes are more than just documents. They are a call to action for everyone involved to uphold the highest standards of care, respect, and responsibility.

We all have a role to play

While some adults in football are bound by child safeguarding policies, procedures and codes of conduct, all adults, including parents and carers, are expected to play their part in keeping children and young people safe in football.

What's a concern?

At our club, a 'concern' is anything you see, hear or experience that makes you or others feel unsafe or causes you to worry about your or others' safety. It can be something serious, like an adult behaving in a way that makes you uncomfortable, players bullying you or others, officials or parents not following proper concussion protocols: it can be anything that makes footy less safe or enjoyable.

Who should raise concerns?

Anyone (a child, young person, family member, carer, umpire, official, senior player, coach, manager, club member or member of the community) can raise a concern. The concern can be about anything (facilities, behaviour of another child or young person, behaviour or actions of an adult).
