Girls Academy Development Program – Draft Framework
Program Vision

To create a holistic, high-performance development environment for Mount Martha FC girls and youth players that enhances football skills, fosters personal growth, and connects players across age groups. The program provides optional but exclusive opportunities outside regular club training to accelerate development through specialised coaching and performance support.

Program Philosophy

The Academy is designed around three core principles:

1. Skill Excellence – Individual technical improvement through focused drills and small-group coaching.

2. Athlete Development – Exposure to physical conditioning, recovery, and mental wellbeing frameworks.

3. Pathway & Connection – Building relationships across age groups and creating pathways into higher levels (Interleague, NAB League, AFLW pathways).

Program Structure

Lead Coach:

Alan Moulden – supported by guest coaches and development mentors

Participants:

All players from U12 – U18; not compulsory but highly encouraged.

Groups will be formed as:

– Interleague Players (or players close to this level)

– Development Players (those seeking to further improve their skills)

Focus:

Skill execution, game sense, decision making, ball movement, leadership

Sessions:

1 × per week training (during pre-season; in-season schedule TBC). Sessions will run in blocks of 4–6 weeks, alternating between the Interleague Players group and the Development Players group.

Location:

Mount Martha Football Club

Duration:

Pre-season block + in-season phases aligned to development goals

Key Program Features

A. On-Field Development

· Small-group skill sessions focused on fundamentals under pressure

· Game simulation and decision-making drills

· Specialist position coaching (midfield, key position, small forwards/backs)

· Progressive session plans built around measurable development outcomes

B. Physical & Performance Conditioning

· Physio screening and injury prevention planning

· Strength & Conditioning sessions delivered via a high-performance affiliate

· Running technique, speed, and endurance development

· Junior athlete load management education

C. Mental & Personal Growth

· “Mindset for Performance” sessions: confidence, resilience, leadership

· Guest speakers on mental health and athlete wellbeing

· Individual goal-setting and reflection support

D. Development Pathways

· Integration with top-end Interleague athletes

· Access to guest coaches and recruiters

· Leadership opportunities through mentoring younger groups

High-Performance Affiliate Partnership

The Academy will partner with a local high-performance provider to deliver:

· Strength & Conditioning programming

· Sports physiology and injury prevention

· Mental health and resilience education

· Access to recovery tools and support

This provides a professional development environment within a community club framework.

Program Outcomes

Players will:

· Improve technical and tactical ability

· Gain exposure to high-performance training methods

· Build cross-age-group connection and unity

· Strengthen leadership, confidence, and resilience

· Develop clear goals and future football pathways

· Finalise schedule and participant list

· Confirm high-performance affiliate and guest coaches

· Create registration and invitation process

· Produce marketing materials (flyer, social media, info packs)

· Launch the Mount Martha FC Girls Academy – Preseason 2026
